Lust is a lie.

As I teach expositionally through Scripture, sometimes a text arises that is a little uncomfortable. Sometimes, I prepare myself for people to walk out while I’m teaching – no joke. Sunday was one of those days. We talked about the church in Thyatira who had allowed poisonous false teaching to flow from their pulpit. One of the major topics was sexual immorality, which is huge in our culture, just like it was back in John’s day. Jesus hits it hard in this letter, so I felt compelled to do the same. Praise God, we had no one walk out, and 2 people give their lives to Jesus!

Watch the video below for a Biblical picture of lust, as well as some practical tips on how to release its grip on your life.

  1. It was a good teaching. People need to realize that even the things they think are small and harmless are sins in the eyes of God…

  2. It was a good teaching. People need to realize that things they think are small and insignificant to them, are sins in the eyes of God. One of the examples you used in a past teaching was being at the mall, and turning away as you went by Victoria’s Secret…most people would never give that a second thought. All the small iniquities add up quickly on your journey to Heaven.

  3. Pastor Kevin… Great Teaching! Thanks for being where you are. You are my Daughter and Son-in Law and grandchildren’s Pastor. I am thankful that your church has opened there. They looked for several years for a church where they felt at home and felt that they fit in. I had an opportunity to see her and the grandkids last weekend and she was wearing one of the churche’s shirts. Awesome!

    Again…

Thank you And God Bless Awaken Church!
