There’s only 1 “TODAY”

There will never be another Tuesday, June 26, 2012. Ever. Let that sink in for a moment. We’re already half-way done with it, then we’ll lock it away in the vault as a part of history. However, unlike Disney, we’ll never be able to pull it out of the vault again!

That should be a sobering thought because what happens today is vital. You will cross paths with unique people, have unique opportunities to be part of what God is doing, and have huge opportunities for obedience. You’ll also face many temptations and have lots of chances to compromise. So how will you spend these 24 hours?

Here’s how NOT to spend them: WORRYING.

Matthew 6:34 – Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

Worrying sends the message that you don’t think God has things under control. The amount of worry in your life is directly proportionate to the amount of faith in God that is present in your life. Plus, it’s sinful and leads nowhere.

Here’s one idea of how TO spend them: ENCOURAGING.

Hebrews 3:12-13 – Beware, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living God; but exhort one another daily, while it is called “Today,” lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.

I love this verse because it never gives you a day off. Whenever you read this verse, check your calendar: it’s still “TODAY” isn’t it? So, since it’s still “today,” one of the main things you should be doing is exhorting others (spurring them on to obedience).

So how are you doing so far? If you failed in the first 12 hours, you still have 12 hours to redeem Tuesday, June 26, 2012.

And by the way, the clock starts over tomorrow. June 27 is a unique day as well! You have 86,400 seconds to invest wisely.
